The government outlines conditions for Krafton as BGMI returns, including a three-month probation period.

Krafton has announced its plans to resume operations of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) in the country, but the government has set forth certain conditions.

On Friday, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Electronics and IT, clarified that the ultimate decision regarding the return of the mobile game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) will be made only after a rigorous three-month trial period. The minister emphasized that the government will closely monitor concerns such as user harm and addiction during this period before reaching a final decision.

In a tweet, Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated, "This is a three-month trial approval of BGMI after it has addressed concerns regarding server locations and data security." These conditions mirror those set by the government for the return of PUBG Mobile as Battlegrounds Mobile India last year. Although the minister did not explicitly mention the specific changes in BGMI, a previous report indicated that Krafton may consider replacing blood with a green-colored spill as the default option and implementing a timer to monitor users' gameplay time.

BGMI is finally Back

On Friday, the South Korean company Krafton made an announcement stating that the video game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) will soon be resuming operations in the country. In a statement, Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO of Krafton India, expressed gratitude to the Indian authorities for granting permission to resume operations. He further stated that Battlegrounds Mobile India will be available for download soon and expressed excitement about welcoming players back to the platform.

Less than two years after the Indian government banned Krafton's popular game PUBG in the country, the company has made a comeback with the launch of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) in May 2021. However, the Indian government responded by ordering Google and Apple to block the BGMI gaming app from their respective online stores under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

In response to the recent approval to resume BGMI operations, Vibhor Kukreti, Head of Government Affairs at Krafton India, expressed deep appreciation and gratitude to the authorities. Kukreti emphasized that Krafton is a responsible South Korean organization that adheres to the law and has implemented various measures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. The company aims to collaborate with the gaming ecosystem in India, promoting innovative practices and supporting the growth of the gaming industry.
