In the Olympic Esports Finals lineup, Fortnite takes center stage.

Rejoice, gamers! The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has made a thrilling announcement, adding Fortnite to the lineup for the Olympic Esports Finals. This move aims to strengthen the connection with the gaming community and showcases the IOC's commitment to fostering esports.

A dozen talented players from the Fortnite Champion Series have been given a remarkable opportunity to display their skills in an International Shooting Sport Federation-backed sharpshooting competition. This unique event will take place on a specially designed Fortnite Creative Island, offering viewers a chance to witness the exceptional talent of the world's best virtual sport shooters. While it won't feature the usual last-one-standing battles or building demonstrations, this competition promises an exciting spectacle.

In conjunction with this exciting news, the IOC has opened ticket sales for the Olympic Esports Week. The event, scheduled from June 22nd to June 25th in Singapore, will host the first in-person finals of the 2023 competition series. Attendees can purchase one-day passes for 10 SGD ($7.50) or three-day passes for 20 SGD ($15), with the Fortnite sport shooting matches scheduled for June 24th. For those unable to attend in person, the events will be streamed live on Olympics.com and the Olympics' social media channels.

The Olympic Esports Series already features nine games that emulate real-world sports, organized by international federations. Games like Just Dance, Gran Turismo racing, Zwift cycling, and web chess have gained popularity. The inclusion of a Fortnite island in the Esports Series aligns with the IOC's objective of promoting "peaceful competition" with a physical equivalent. While games like Counter-Strike 2 or League of Legends may not be part of a digital Olympics, Fortnite's immense popularity makes it an ideal choice for the Esports Series. This addition aims to attract audiences who may not have previously been interested in conventional esports tournaments.

The inclusion of Fortnite in the Olympic Esports Finals lineup marks an exhilarating milestone for gamers worldwide. It provides an extraordinary platform for players to showcase their skills on a global stage and signifies a significant stride in the IOC's efforts to connect with the gaming community. Make sure to mark your calendars and seize the opportunity to witness history in the making at the 2023 Olympic Esports Week!
